MapInfo Corporation acquires exclusive rights to
Marconi's Vertical Mapper™
product line.
The following joint announcement by Moshe Minyamin,
MapInfo's Product Manager for Vertical Mapper™ and
Brian White, Vice President of Sales for Marconi
Wireless, was released April 2003:
MapInfo Corporation and Marconi are pleased to inform
you that MapInfo Corporation has acquired the perpetual
and exclusive worldwide right to develop and distribute
Marconi’s Vertical Mapper™ product line.
MapInfo sees this as an exciting opportunity to
provide you, the Vertical Mapper™ and MapInfo
Professional® customer, a single source for all your
mapping needs. Vertical Mapper™ will now be part of
MapInfo’s product family. Therefore, product quality
interoperability and continued value to our customers
will be at the forefront of our efforts.
For customers using versions of Vertical Mapper™ earlier
than 3.0, please know that Vertical Mapper™ v.3.0 is
available from MapInfo today. Key product highlights
include: Predictive analysis of potential new sites
after a key site has been characterized. Spatial
correlation between multiple grids, point density using
square area or Kernel smoothing, grid buffering,
enhanced interpolation wizard, enhanced contouring user
interface, and redesigned modeling wizard are just few
examples of the new features and enhancements you will
find in Vertical Mapper™ v3.0. Vertical Mapper™ upgrades
are also available.
It is intended that after a transition period, technical
support for Vertical Mapper™ will shift to MapInfo.
Current Vertical Mapper™ customers should continue
to request support through Marconi until the transition
is complete.
